January 10, 2015: First DSLR comet image

Recommended Posts

I managed to set up the scope and snap ten 40s subs before clouds rushed in. I used my EOS 450D attached with the Televue TRF2008 0.8x focal reducer to the APM 80mm F/6 triplet. These subs were all unguided. Processed with all the wrong tools, most likely, but will try to get together some getter tools later. Oh well, at least the comet is visible. Also managed a single sub of M42. Given that it is just one 40s sub at 1600 ISO just as a trial I am not displeased. Both need flats (did some darks), and MUCH more data to add up to something good. Still, first, unguided trial run between gaps in clouds at least gives me some data to play with.
