Canon 40D First Light

I purchased a cheap, used Canon 40D DSLR the other day and modified it to remove the IR filter using this guide:

I managed to get three 60 second subs before the battery gave out, but the initial results look promising as a cheap way into Ha sensitive one shot colour.

For 60 sec unguided it is a great first light.

Guiding will be an immense improvement when you sort.

Few shorter/less stretched subs blended into the trapezium would be good.

Did you try some flats? Looks like this would also help.

This was realy just a quick test from my light polluted garden site. More than 60s resulted in washed out images with the moon being rather near as well.

Hopefully when I get back to darker skies I'll be able to do some longer subs. The other issue I noted is the CCD to coma corrector distance is no longer correct as the Canon T2 mount is thicker than the Nikon one.
