I couldn't agree more Chris. Doubles are my favourite objects. As you say you can view them under LP skies or even when there is a full moon in the sky and they actually show you some colour. I've just started working my way through the Astronomical League's list of 100 doubles: http://www.astroleague.org/files/obsclubs/DblStar/dblstar2.pdf which should keep me going for a while. I'm also thinking of trading in my dob for a refractor or maybe a MCT which is better suited for this line of work.
