Ratcatcher
Hi, is anybody out there currently using Skyfi safari with their scopes?I am going to give it a try with my I pone and CGEM mount. Its just that my Starsence works very well but the sky tour is a liitle disappointing. If this works then will get a dedicated I pad.I would be very interested in anyones experience here. Stu
Hi MikeI use SkySafari on an iPhone with my Vixen Atlux and the SkyFi adaptor. For me it is a fabulous system and works very well. My mount uses an old, but effective SkySensor 2000PC controller. I do the basic alignment on the controller, then connect the iPad and it then syncs the position and away you go.I find it so much easier to locate more obscure double stars and other objects. You can also align on many more objects to get more accurate positioning.Obviously with SkySafari you can create observing lists to work through very easily.Overall I can only recommend that you do it. It's a great system and is well worth it. It actually amazes me that, in my case, a 20 year old controller can interface so seamlessly with modern technologies.StuSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ratcatcher
I have taken the plunge and bought SkySafsri and Skyfi for my CGEM mount and it works very well with my Iphone and laptop and not at all with my Nexus 7!It's all about cable management now, SkyFi, dew heater, extended hand control cable, CEGEM power cable...it's looks like a spaghetti tree!If I come up with something worth while I will post a pic. jaygpoo
Saw the skyfi in operation on star party SGL11. Well impressed and brought one on my return. Have it on my ipad and iphone. Have yet to fully use it but will still be setting up using my eqmod polar alignment. Then I will be aligning as I go. Found an old cable supply with a cigar lighter end and an adaptor that fitted the skyfi 12v supply and knocked uo power lead to my battery. jay

I've just installed Goto on my Vixen GP mount and it seems to work well with SkyFi. Get yourself some red acetate to cover the devices to keep your night vision preserved.
