Was,nt aware binoculars could lose their coatings. Or have I got that wrong

Looks like they simply need a good clean. Or have I got that wrong as well

Coatings can get etched away by acids in sweat. Maybe simple application of Baader Wonder Fluid would clear them up, but I guess the seller might have tried it already. Note that this damage to the coating will affect contrast and transmission (slightly), but probably not sharpness. What is unknown is if somebody has tried to clean them inexpertly, in which case there may be very fine scratches on the optics, which will affect sharpness much more. Looking thorugh them before buying is the only way to be sure.

Seems to be a lot of interest (38 bids when I just looked) and £430 has been reached already. What would these have cost new? Can you still get that model today?
