Yes indeed. A nice thing about it is it will - however fleetingly - get a lot of people thinking about what is up there. Google has a reach few can match.

My thoughts exactly.  I should imagine that there are plenty of people at Google  who are into Astronomy, lets hope they do a few more Doodles  like this.

It's rather fun, that.  I reckon a fair few of the "streaks" in the video are probably satellites rather than meteors though
