Cygnus widefield with £25 Solignor 3.5 200mm lens

Dear all,

I tried over the weekend this lens that I got really cheap on ebay. I went for the North America and Pelican Nebulae. The camera I used was a canon 450D on a HEQ5 Pro. Just about three hours exposure time over two nights with 4 minutes subs. The image has been cropped a bit but you can see some coma around the bottom. I used  the lens one stop down. Your comments/suggestions are welcome. Thanks for looking.

Great picture, well done! Is your 450D modified, or is that as standard? Just goes to show you don't need to spend silly money to get good shots.

Thank you guys. That's actually with a modified canon 450D.  Maybe I should have gone for two stops instead of one as the distortion is very noticeable in the bottom of the picture.

Very nice, like you say just a bit of coma there. I also have a cheap 200mm M42 lens I'm hoping to use, so very interesting to see this.
