July 10, 2014; Heads up: detached prom at huge distance from western limb

Recommended Posts

I was lucky enough to catch this in my PST.  I observed it from 6.05 to 7.05 this morning before heading off for work.

It really was quite incredible and changed almost by the minute, and moving a greater distance from the Sun while I was watching.

It's structure was really detailed, and I did a few sketches and made notes during my observation.  As is often the case in the early morning, the seeing was really good.  I have a particularly good PST and it was really impressive.

I'm going to look on GONG now and run the video for the time in question to see what I missed when I left for work!

No sour grapes having to go to work - I doubt I would have been out observing quite that early if I hadn't got to go and earn a few pennies!
