Mounting plate design for NEQ6 pro

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am working on a fixed pier for my NEQ6 Pro. I am checking how to design the mounting plates. First I need to know what part to mount on the top plate, is it the actual mount or is it the part under the head to which the legs of the tripod are connected.

Then: has anyone done this exercise with a NEQ6 Pro? Can you share drawings or pictures of your mounting plates, I would be very grateful.

I've seen it done both ways but by far the most common approach is to use just the mount rather than the tripod part.

There are quite a few commercial adapter plate offerings (e.g. http://www.altairastro.com/product.php?productid=16169&cat=275&page=1) but if you're wanting to make your own, a schematic is available in this thread:

Also a PDF schematic was created by member Steppenwolf on his site: http://www.nightskyimages.co.uk/eq6_dimensions.pdf

There's also one on ebay at the moment: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271534423900
