Helios 114 reflector collimation

My brother has bought a new scope a Meade 8 inch sect and has given me his old Helios to refurbish and sell.I noticed it has a corrector lense in the focuser tube.Has anyone collimated one of these as when you put a laser in it disperses the light making it impossible to collimate with any accuracy,or is it just a case of doing a star test,many thx

As you have found out laser collimators don't work will Bird-Jones type reflectors.  You will have to use either a cheshire collimator or a colli-cap.

Do a star test first, it may not need collimating.
