What lens

I'm not long into this AP game and after a heads up regarding equipment. I currently use a D3000 as my main camera but I want to mount it straight onto the HEQ5 and do some wide field shots of large constellations/Milky Way etc.

Can anyone advice on the best type of lens without having to remortgage!

Also thinking of picking up a dedicated imaging camera at the IAS in June. Problem I have is I use a Mac Book Pro (2013). Difficult to run what I need on this baby!

I would definitely recommend going for a prime lens as opposed to a telephoto.

Many do rave about the nifty fifty (50mm) as it's pretty cheap and sharp as well.
