Rottweiler light so tiny gx @ zenith

This is getting exhausting! Fifth clear evening in a row last night and hottest day of the year so far and my neighbour had a noisy BBQ - and why not !  But it came complete with his 500w insecurity light that 'flooded' the gardens around.

But no worries - within my cosy dome aimed with impunity scope straight up at the zenith at some 'new' and tiny gx beauties in the bowl of the Plough !   The big light went out at 11.15pm so safe to aim in its SW direction towards Virgo.

A dome gives essential LP protection in suburbia and will post my new LodestarLive captured gx pics here soon :police:

Nice LJ - do you set it up each time ? :-)

The mount lives outside under BBQ covers - I just have plonk the scope on when cloud permits. The bucket of bricks hanging under the tripod seems to keep PA good from night to night. I always check but it's not very often I have to adjust.

Thanks LJ for the scope update - it's always interesting to know how other astronomers use their gear and a photo and notes show that beautifully - thanks

Here's my haul, with some really faint/dull UGCs omitted, from Rottweiller Night - mostly NGCs around the Bowl of the Plough overhead [hence consistant N36xx numbers!] until the light went off then a few in Virgo including the M87 jet.

The jet is now routine in anything from 5s- 30s as here - It amazes me that visual observers struggle with the jet even with very large Dobs and complaim about seeing condition needed to view it.  For me seeing never enters the equation for 'live viewing/capture'.

All image exposures 30s via 30cm f/3.4 SCT+SX Lodestar-Mx2 camera.  Auto darks via LL but no flats.  Images as viewed and captured/save in obsy in dark conditions but lightened here with gamma stretch as too dark otherwise.

It's amazing how LodestarLive on its native full res shows up the tiniest fuzz which proves via Megastar and on-line Wikisky references to be tiny and very remote galaxies.  Starting with the lollypops  M97 and M108 - enjoy :police:

A superb haul of galaxies, most of the NGC ones I have not observed before, and I really like the annotations putting everything into context.

Flood lights are so annoying, a house near me had one that they left on all night. Thankfully they have stopped this stupidity. I like to think it was because they realised how they were damaging the local view of the night sky, but I suspect it was more the electricity bill that comes with 500W gobbling the electrons all night..
