Hi all

Had another go today... But still can't achieve focus and plagued by dust bunnies - sigh. I can't seem to find any point where there's sharp focus so I'm thinking the focus difficulties are down to the ST80 optics, unless anyone has any better ideas? No doubt an ED80 would be much better...

How is the film attached to the ST80 ... ?

I have mine clamped onto the front of the 'scope itself as opposed to the front of the dewshield , I had it overtightened one day and it made focusing impossible , took me a while to figure the problem but as soon as I loosened everything off the image just snapped into focus again .

I now just have things finger tight , just enough to prevent the filter blowing off.

Hiya

Mine's a bit ad hoc... I have a partly used packing tape reel and have attached the film to one side with some sellotape. The whole is then inserted into the ST80 dew shield. The film isn't particularly tight across the front.

I only made it today so it's a different setup from my previous couple of images.

Cheers

It could be out of focus UV/IR that is causing the problems, have you tried a UV/IR cut filter?

Great image though, its coming along nicely :)

Hi Alexandra

Ahhhh ok - I hadn't thought of that! I normally have a cls-ccd lp filter in the 1100d but took it out for the solar - d'oh. That cuts UV and IR so will give it a go. The dust bunnies are a nightmare - can't seem to ever quite get rid of them!

Thanks!

Louise
