Just seen the plage around this group brighten intensely......it went from being just average too shinning brighter than anything on the current surface (stood out like a sore thumb) it lasted around 5 mins before going back to normal brightness......what did I witness? Thanks

Some kind of flare? There are some breaks in the clouds here. Maybe I can have a look around lunchtime

It is quite lucky to see that type of activity Skem   We still have clouds in Northants

It definitely got a lot....lot brighter.....I certainly wasn't imagining it. The graph on solarham which indicates flares,rose a little at the time I saw this plage brighten.

It could well have been a flare.  There was plage with this group when I observed it at 0715 UT.  However AR2060 was surrounded in plage at that time and looked the likeliest candidate for flare activity.  Sketch below.
