Canon 450D - Baader filter replacement - yay!!!

I have taken the plunge - sent the missus for a portrait course and locked myself in my study. Bought a proper philips screwdriver set, hobby knives, and got gloves and a surgical mask from work and followed Gary Honis guide:

Here's proof of my endeavours... my images whilst I was unscrewing my Canon with a beating heart.

Gary Honis' guide is excellent - BUT - if there is another guide, that actually removes the front of the camera as well - that would make access to 1 screw and 1 plug by far easier...

Anyway - finished in 2.5 hours - turned it on AAAAAND: it didn't work. Lol. Reopened in 2 min - saw that the main white plug on the motherboard was loose - pushed a bit more. Done. Works. Amazing!!!

And - yes the old IR filter will break like on his website. Don't worry about it. I had this "there's no way back now" moment...

No

As you only removed one of the 2 filters, the other one will give IR block, so not to worry, you do not need the CCD version.

The mod you performed is the most common one, by leaving the rearmost filter in place of IR block.
