April 3, 2014: Solar lunch with big "claw" proms on western limb

Recommended Posts

Just had a glance through the Sahara dust/smog, using the trusty LS35. Apart from some filaments and sunspots on the surface, the sun was quite quiet, except for a big pair of "claws" sticking out of the western limb. The top claw was considerably larger than the bottom. The pair could also put you in mind of a parrot's beak. A small prom could be seen almost due south.  Not much else going on, but still worth a quick look.
