Hi all.

Can anyone out here help me identifiy this eyepiece?(the first one)

I guess its the skywatcher zoom eyepiece. Any info on the quality of the same is appreciated.

ill confirm its the skywatcher zoom as its identical to mine, 7 - 24 i think its is, tbh its not to bad obviously as you up the power it has a slight problem with vignetting and i see red and blue on each side of the object im viewing at full mag, good for beginners

i have not used either, but i have read many reviews on the merits of the skywatcher 7x21 and the 8x24. the 8x24 gets much better reviews than the 7x21.

There are so many varients of this eyepiece it's difficult to know exactly what you'll get. I have an old version - looks very similar, same specs, but is badged and sold by TeleVue (not made by them though). It is very good general purpose eyepiece for when zoom is particularly useful - I tended to use mine on the moon to save continually swapping eyepieces. The only drawback is the FOV shrinks as the magnification is increased. It does remain close to parfocal throughtout the range (not quite though, focusing still required as you zoom in/out).

no idea on how would be with AR 127 tbh, i use mine with a 130p explorer, as said the 8 - 24mm gets a better review, i got mine on the cheap from ebay and for the money its fine imo, i would however jump at the chance to get a baader click stop

The 8-24's are better performers and are available under many brands including Seben and Skywatcher.

For what it's worth, the Tele Vue 8-24 zoom is made by Vixen in Japan as is the superb Nagler 3-6mm zoom. No relations to the above eyepiece though, despite any superficial resemblance.
