I know the Celestron CG5 Advanced Series Computerized Equatorial Mount - 91518 is no longer being made, was wondering if 619.00 would be a good buy, new with 2 year warranty. See it has 35# cap. my next thought was the orion atlas eq-g heavy duty at 1299.00 with 40# cap. but that is twice the cost for 5# more load. Help...... need pros and cons

The atlas is a much better mount than the cg5 especially if you want to do imaging. If you can afford the atlas now it will save you the hassle and expense of having to sell the cg5 to upgrade to the atlas later. I am surprised at your figures for payload. The atlas is sold as the EQ6 over here and it has a payload of  over 2  times the cg5gt. Have you got it mixed up with the sirius (heq5)

The sirius is also a better mount than the cg5gt if you want to do imaging

Celestron tend to give higher load capacities than the Orion/Synta versions of the mount. Also the Orion Atlas EQ-G is the equivalent of the Skywatcher EQ6, which is a much bigger mount and consequently has a higher load capacity. The Orion  Skyview Pro = Celestron CG5-GT, Orion Sirius EQ G = Skywatcher HEQ5 Pro, Orion Atlas EQ G = Sykwatcher EQ6 Pro.and similar in spec to Celestron's CGEM.
