Good book for post-processing in Photoshop

Hi,

We've just bought PhotoShop CS6 and LightRoom 5 for our post-processing but we've never used any previous version of those packages - or any photo editing / processing package for that matter.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good resource (book, pdf, etc) that explains how to best post-process astro images with those 2 packages? Ideally looking for something that starts at the beginning and doesn't assume knowledge in that area.

Basically looking for the imaginary "Making every pixel count", the equivalent of "Making every photon count" for post-processing.

Thanks

Nico & Carly

Jerry Lodriguss has a few books out - one titled A Guide To Astrophotography With Digital SLR Cameras goes into some detail with step-by-step guides on how to process images in Photoshop. Might be worth a look (it's available on CDROM and includes video tutorials).

Hi Nico & Carly

Believe or not there is a "Making every pixel count" tutorial from Caelum Observatory. I bought the full version and it's pretty advanced stuff, but they also do individual tutorials for some of the main galaxies and nebula's. You may find it easier to follow the work flow for one of them.

Here's the link

Good luck and hope this helps

Postman has just delivered new 2nd edition of Photoshop Astronomy, quite good considering I only ordered it over the weekend

http://www.scsastro.co.uk/catalogue/photoshop-astronomy.htm

haven't had a chance to read it yet but is often mentioned on tinternet as being the reference, now in a second edition and cheaper than importing from US publisher, still expensive though
