Tracking mount help?

Recommended Posts

RIght...

I have the skywatcher 127 Mak cas 'supatrak' telescope, so its got a strange keypad with 4 arrows and takes ages to do anything. I was wandering, if I got a goto keypad and put that in the socket rather than the other one would the scope 'become a goto system' - well would it work first of all?

Cheers,

The Synscan handset will work with the Supatrak mount. The handset needs to be flashed with the latest firmware V3.35 or the older az firmware. You will also need the correct handset to mount cable http://www.365astronomy.com/skywatcher-synscan-az-handset-cable-p-2846.html or handset and cable together http://www.365astronomy.com/skywatcher-synscan-v3-updateable-handset-hand-control-alt-az-p-2728.html

You need to change the speed of the mount.

It is a 2 key press and the mount will move at a higher set of rates, then you put it back into the "normal" mode.

The high speed option is for going to the next object, the slow speed mode is to centre the object once found.

It is in tne manual page 7 and 8 of your manual.

Press Guide and Slow to go to the fast option,

Press Guide and Slow to revert to tracking, and the lower rates.

I assume that it does not track at sidereal in the high speed mode.

It is a toggle operation.

Some button flashes. Skywatcher are a little unsure it seems on which one.
