Heads up - Moon and Venus

Just peeked out of the window and there is a lovely crescent moon with Venus nearby. Well worth a quick look if you are up and it is clear.

Sounds tempting but at the moment it's almost -50F with the wind chill. Think I'll kick back in the recliner with a beer.

Saw it this morning when I got to work. May have to bring in the travelscope tomorrow if its clear again.

Tomorrow is a closer conjunction, but the moon is lower and only 3.9% illuminated vs 10% today. Still worth a go if you can get a good low horizon maybe.

Fog is so thick here I still can't find the car parked outside the house.

I guess I can consider myself lucky. They say that an inch of rain would be 10 inches of snow. If that were the case, I'd have to have a hatch in the attic to get out of the house!

(Or maybe you guys are lucky it's not snow!)

It was a fine sight out of our loft room this morning - good earthshine on the moon.  I hope we get a gap in the clouds tomorrow morning.
