I decided to manufacture my own as they seem very thin on the ground when you start looking to buy one. The usual eq6 type is only 8 inches as well so I made mine a little longer at around 12 inches.

Took a few hours to machine mainly due to having to machine down some 200mm billet which was all I could lay my hands on.

The cylinder is a piece of 100mm ally tube with 6mm wall thickness. I just cleaned up the ends & outside. The ends were turned from 200mm ally (turned down to 130mm) that's why it took so long to do!

Thanks for your comments.

I made a small extension for my HEQ5 of some left overs from a wooden kitchen benchtop. I also added a hinge so I can fold the mount part and place the complete tripod & mount unit standing up in a small hatchback car (securely tied down of course).
