3.3 Focal Reducer question

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have a Sky Watcher 80ED. Is it possible to use a Meade 3.3 Focal Reducer with this for CCD imaging. I do use it on my 8i SCT ok which it is designed for but I don't know how it would connect to the SW and if it would work if I did find a way of connecting it.

Robin, I use the Meade f/3.3 FR on my ED80, and you need a an AC304 adaptor (£19.99), made by Astro-Engineering.

I got mine From Greenwitch, but you'd probably also get one from 'The Astronomy & Nature Centre'.

I think that Antares also make such an adaptor.

Hello again Robin :D

Yep, I'm going to tell you different. :D

The SW ED80 is fiited with a 2" to 1.25" adaptor, which is held in with two 'thumb screws'.

This is removed, and replaced with the AC304, which then provides you with a male SCT thread, onto which you screw the 3.3 FR.

HTH.
