Long weekend away at Kielder - ideas?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I'm still pretty new to astronomy, not had much time to get out and use my equipment over the last year, much to my shame!  So, to put things right I've booked a long weekend away between April 17th - April 20th 2014 to the Kielder Forest Park.  Really looking foreard to it (just hoping the whether is kind to me!).

I'll be taking my SLR and laptop, along with my skywatcher 150px to try and get some good pics.

However I don't want to spend hours searching around for things to view / photo, but would like to come away with some good looking pics!  Can anyone suggest some relatively easy to find targets that would give me a pretty good results?

Thanks,

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Good luck at Kielder, there's a good list of easier targets at http://astrog80.astro.cf.ac.uk/mwm/ think that the brighter / larger ones will make easier targets to get you going.

Recommend that you download http://www.stellarium.org/en_GB/ (it's free) you could then program in the location and date / time to have a look at what you could see.

Here's the event calender for Kielder Observatory too - worth a visit http://kielderobservatory.org/events/calendar.html

Best,

Chris
