Do retailers of astronomy kit tend to have January Sales?

I am thinking of taking the plunge on a larger scope but don't want to bite now and then find there are lots of bargains to be had next week!

No , it's mid season for them and with Stargazing live coming up stock is going to be scarce enough.

You could however do your homework , find the best price and ask your preferred retailer if they can match or beat

Or wait til a few months after sgl... There will be loads of scopes on eBay / astro buy sell where people are upgrading or selling because the got caught up in the hype

Usually discounts are associated with Astro Shows, some retailers will have a 10% reduction on items, so get along to any that are reasonably large that you can. Will caution that with there are sort of 2 that are generally big enough: Astrofest at Kensington, mid-Feb this year and the "newish" on that will be at Stonleigh sometime this year. Was at Leamington last year.

No chance of getting to others as they are some distance away.

Have noticed that small ones don't seem to have offers of a global nature on the retailers products, as in a few eyepieces may be on offer but nothing else.
