Jovian moons currently in a lovely pattern

Thanks for the heads up Shane - I'll be having a peek at Jupiter soon, once the Moon has moved behind the house. The seeing seems good here tonight in between the odd wobble - even 530x seemed pretty crisp on the lunar surface. How 18mm of plywood in a box shape can hold a 5 foot 40 lb scope steady at those powers is beyond me

I've got Jupiter in the eyepiece now - and see the "hockey stick". You were right Shane, nice formation

I'm just in time to wave goodbye to the GRS as it seems to be slipping around the corner of the planet now. There seems to be a nice pale spot type thing in the middle of the SEB more or less on the central meridian at the moment. Is that GRS Junior or some other feature ?
