My NEW Dew Gun for my NEW Helios Apollo 15X70mm Binocular Set Up

Just received my Dew Gun from 365 astronomy. Would highly recommend for your Scopes and Binoculars. Plugged my Dew Gun in to a Cigarette lighter on my Skywatcher Power Tank and this works a treat. The lead is long too and once the Dew sets in you only have to switch the Dew Gun on and select Heat and will clear any Dew on the optics within seconds. Will last for 15 to 20 mins before you remove more Dew. My observing nights have got better now. Highly recommended.

Cheers Damo, Helps keeping the hair dry  lol, Yeah I was having problems with dew and everytime I was going out observing dew quickly set in so decided on getting on and its fantasic and just the tool to sort the dew out when it forms on the optics on the Helios Apollo HD 15X70S. The actual lead is long which is a good idea and is very small and pocket sized. Used it for the first time last night and is perfect for a nights observing. I enjoyed your YOU TUBE on your Helios Apollo HD 15X70S Damo. Came aross it the other night. :)

Nice, Mine is the same as your Dew Gun but a different colour and the handle also folds which is handy but found when I select HEAT on the Dew Gun my battery light changes on the powertank to yellow which says the powertank needs charging but when I select it on the cool setting the light goes green on the powertank. :)

mine was less than half the price and came pre-flocked... ok, black

I have the white version of that -- easier to find in the dark  ; cost me all of  £3.27 (but that was in about 1998 -- money well spent as it is still going strong).

That's because the writing next to the power tank lights doesn't say what they actually indicate, which is the voltage across the battery terminals. When you apply a load to the battery, the voltage drops.

Incidentally, I'm toying with some ideas for dew shields for my 15x70 -- needs to fit in the case and to stay on when the binocular is neck-slung.

For my 25x100's  I used black  plastic DPC material ..

I have them on my mounted 100mm binocular (actually, it's a single shield that goes around both barrels. Made from SWMBO's old and totally inadequate for its intended purpose, yoga mat: 2mm thick foam. It fixes to itself with sticky-back velcro, which needs to be sewn on as the "sticky" fails when it gets damp!

(Something like Correx would be more rigid and so could be made longer -- curve it by wrapping around a broomstick or something similar)
