New Acquisition - Orion Optics F4.5 SPX200

I recently acquired a second hand Orion Optics F4.5 SPX200. This is my first ever Newtonian, after years of swearing that I'd never bother with one. 

Here it is on the EZTouch which handles it very nicely.

And here on the GM8. I  don't intend to use it much like this but there is just something about an 8" reflector on an equatorial mount that takes me back to my childhood, when I spent all my time drooling over the 8" Newts in the Fullerscopes catalogue.

welcome to the newt side Richard! I'd be very interested to hear your opinion after a while of using this, especially on the altaz mount.

I have had it out a couple to times so far, and it handles very well on the Alt Az. At F4.5 it is surprisingly light and compact, well within the EZTouch's capabilities. I imagine it would handle well on any similar mount.

Nice scope, do you happen to know what grade mirror is fitted. It looks very useful on the eztouch

The scope looks like it's from the same era as the SPX tube I have in my 12" F/5.3 dob.

It's the 1/10th wave mirror with hilux coatings.
