thing
Anybody recommend a decent filter to get some colour out of Mars? Also are there any reasonably priced light pollution filters out there? I've seen the Orion Ultrablock but it's a bit beyond what I want to pay.
cygnusx1
The Baader Neodymium LPR filter seems to do the trick for under £50.
rob7
I'm not experienced like a lot of guys on here and I'm sure they can help you far better, but recently, I got some nice banding detail with a simple red filter which came combined with my Revelation ep set. This was on my C6-sgt. First detail on the 'white disc of Mars' I've had so far. I've 'heard' blue is good for bring out the polar region, but have yet to try...Regards, Rob. FLO
Cygnus beat me to it. The Baader Neodymium is said to work well with Mars and is an excellent light pollution reduction filter, if your skyglow is the standard orange sodium variety. (It's also supposed to reduce moon-glow but I can't say I have noticed!).
