Windy Aurora

It was a windy night in Caithness last night, but that was nothing compared to the space weather conditions.
The 1.5million mph solar wind certainly made for a pretty picture by generating some nice colourful aurora that stretched all the way to the zenith....

Another good shot Gordon, I'm hoping the aurora puts on a show in a couple of weeks, I've never managed to catch it in the years I've been visiting Caithness.

It's the most sky I've seen the aurora fill for some time - just a pity the clouds were filling a fair chunk of the sky too. Here's hoping for more displays like it over the coming winter months.
