Heritage 130p observing base

Recommended Posts

I have a small decked area that is too narrow for tripod legs so choose the Heritage 130p telescope but found it a bit too low to use from the ground even with using a low stool.
So did an Amazon surf and found this. It is a light weight (1kilo) aluminium shower stool with adjustable legs.
Took a spade bit to the seat and made a hole for the large nut on the dob base to sink through.
This stool is working out great for the space I have and whilst it is 4 legs (not as stable as 3) the weight of the dob is enough to make it stable for use. The adjustable legs mean I can vary the height depending on what chair is available to observe from. At the lowest height I use a small portable stool and if the scope it pointing up high  then perch on a garden chair and don't bother changing the legs but they are quick to do anyway.
