Thanks for the welcome to the site. A couple of Guys have asked if I could post a photo of my home made tripod. Originally I had a builders tripod which was cheap and blumming terrible when trying to support a 80mm f15 scope that weighs 12 lbs. I had a plank of beech rough sawn all over and cost about £12. I marked out 3 x isosceles triangles approx. 4" tapering to 1.25" and planed, filed and sanded to a nice finish, I stuck the three legs into the aluminium top of the builder's tripod (this required a bit of careful filing and shaping). I bought a metre of chain and cut it into three equal lengths joined in the centre with a heavy duty key ring and this made the stop for the legs eg stopped the legs stretching out too wide. And finally made a triangular table that further supported the tripod. Without doubt it is as solid as a rock and I am sure I could fancy it up a bit but it does the job all be it that the legs are not adjustable.post-25151-0-50285300-1379439175_thumb.jpost-25151-0-42763700-1379438072_thumb.j
