modded now it wont turn on

ok i reckon i have just had the closet call of blowing up a camera. stupid me left the battery in while trying to attach a ribbon and puff smoke came from the connection!!!! my heart sank so sat there thinking what an idiot i am i thought cant make it any worse now it must be $$$$$ so i put the cable back in very heavy handed an then it came to life everything is working (for now) so if i can get tonight out of it, im taking to the local camera shop in town on wednesday and explain to them what tool i am but for now im one lucky [removed word]. by the way i checked the gold conductors on the ribbon and 3 are missing and one is fried gray. i have gone through the functions of the camera and all seem to be working fine and it still connects to the laptop via the USB so i ave no idea what damage it has caused,but its working
