Weekend Away

Well I'm back now from my weekend away at Shell Island.

All I can say is WOW!

1st night at camp, set up my scope and got lost staring at the Milky Way and didn't even use the scope, I spent hours just lying staring up!

2nd and 3rd night, though, I spent glued to my scope and now the wife is fully addicted to the beautiful mystery that is the night sky.

We are already planning another trip away and also numerous visits to the Astronomy Center.

Nice to hear you had a great time, it makes such a difference to get

away from light polluted areas, my garden gets a fair amount, to get

to a dark site is bliss, observing the Milky Way is spectacular and the

only way is a dark site, there are quite a lot of good sites in North Wales,

never tried Shell Island, must give it a try some time.

Its a brilliant get away plenty dark skies at night and brilliant fishing through the day, to me sheer bliss.

I went past Shell Island on Wednesday last week. Looks like a nice campsite. It's big- 300 acres, pitch anywhere you like. Easy to find a dark corner.

Its an awesome place Pig, I'd personally recommend the end of the island opposite the sea, nice and quiet there.
