Which filters should I use??

Recommended Posts

I'm after some advice please.....

after viewing the moon for my first time last night I was wondering what filters I should use? Although I got a brilliant image of the moon, I felt a little eye strain because it was so bright last night.

could anyone advise me on what filter I should use, is there a good brand to recommend?

Im also looking into viewing the sun as well, so any advice or guidance would be great.

For the moon you need something line a neutral density filter, baader are pretty good:

As for the Sun ,do not be fooled into buying 1.25" or 2" filters that boast of being suitable for solar viewing, they're definitely not safe. The only two things you should use are either solar film (again by Baader), or a dedicated solar telescope.
