Png or FITS in Sharpcap?

Which file format is better for 8 bit mono CCD (webcam) subs?

FITS or PNG?

Why not AVi video ?

For 8 bit capturing, PNG is fine - it's a lossless format just like FITS is, but has the advantage of smaller files and better compatibility (almost anything will open png).

PNG output in Sharpcap also supports 16 bit depth, but there you might find that some programs won't cope nicely with the PNG files produced (although the should be in spec).
