Heavy? Meade's otas might be heavy, but Celestron's (at least up to 11") are lighter than the nearest size SW newt :confused:

Possibly! Sorry. However, the corrector does add an element not found on an open tube design. However, since it replaces the spider I dare say this doesn't have to add much.

I forgot a Plus; no diff spikes on images. I really don't like them. I wish that Tak et all with fast corrected Newt astrographs would offer an optical window version.

You would then have to faff about with dew prevention systems like all the catadioptric users. :smiley:

Yes, but diff spikes at 500mm focal length on a Milky Way target means an image of diff spikes and square stars... And cleaning a corrector plate is easy.
