Help with focusing and spc900nc + Sharpcap

Hi folks,

Please can someone help with focusing on Saturn with spc900nc webcam whilst using sharpcap.

The last few nights i have had a good view of Saturn in my FOV and also on the lap top whilst using sharpcap but the view i have had is really dim (which is to be expected) but also really small after focusing.

The question i want to ask is......is there a setting on sharpcap that can make the Planet bigger on my PC screen so that i know that the Planet is properly focused, ie....see more detail !! or... is it a case of enlarging the Planet when sent to Registax( for which i have done but really had no joy with wavelets and so forth)??

Also to add to the above comment.......how long is long enough to film Saturn.....i usually do about 5 min, is this too long?? 10fps 640x480.

Hi,

There is an option in Sharpcap to increase the image size (it's near the option to use a reticle from memory). This only resizes the image for the purposes of focus. You can use a Barlow to increase the size or drizzle in Regisrax.

I used to do 3 mins at a time.

I thought the first few times I did it that "reticule zoom" was 1 word and to zoom in on the reticule, took me a while to work out it was 2 different things!

Can't help with sharpcap but a 5min AVI will be fine.

After looking at the attached thumbnail from Helite ( thanks) it is obvious now....
