Snagged a bargain, not normally this lucky

Hi folks,

Just got hold of a working HEQ5 standard, second hand, no weights or spreader plate but with a polarscope for the super duper price of £100 (!!!)

I am spending the afternoon reading every article on polar alignment and watching setup videos.

Any ideas where i can get a spreader plate from? tried the usual suspects but they are not listed.

Saving now for the goto upgrade, planning to use eqmod but i think i will have to buy the whole kit inc handset.

Astroboot? Is that even still running? You could try a wanted ad on ABS, you never know someone may have one they'd be willing to part with. Sounds like a bargain, hope you can get it fixed up.

Cool. You don't need the handset if you are planning on using EQmod. just an RJ connector lead

Ian, thanks for confirming that I dont need the handset, i wasnt sure. Havent seen the motors and the circuit board on their own though.

Unfortunately, until you have 250 posts you are unable to put a wanted ad on here. Astroboot was still running the last time I looked. ABS is definitely worth a try.

Cannot see one on astroboot, but they do appear there.

Doesn't look like Astro Engineering reproduce them either, since they are basically a chunk of aluminium sheet they shouldn't be difficult - would need champhering where they contact the legs.

If you had a pattenr I suspect you could cut one easily out of 9mm or 12mm ply easily, at least it would get you going.
