first time for the flame nebula

last week i was away at a dark sky location in wales. last time i went it was august so orion was well out the way but this time it was low but still able to see it. as it got dark about half 9 i tried for the horsey but failed due to it being so low but i did manage to see the flame nebula and from a dark sky its bright!! the dark filaments are visible that make up the structure. it was certainly a WOW moment with the 24mm Panoptic. very pleased i managed to see this. i alos got 8 galaxys in the 24mmPan in the virgo bowl. if i was to do a list of everything i saw it would at least 3 pages front and back long. m101 was bigger than the moon in pan

Sounds great in deed, congrats on bagging that. I must try this next year from a properly dark site.

That is impressive and can imagine the thrill! I've tried for it with my setup and seen absolutely no indication of a dso in that area of the sky. Defo need a dark place for that one.
