dmk mono and filter wheel

Recommended Posts

Hi folks:

I am considering a dmk mono ccd and color filter wheel (Baader filters). Just wondering if when I set this up, would I still leave the uv/ir cut filter on the camera when imaging through these filters?

Thanks again for any suggestions

Cheers

Roger

The (more expensive) Baader RGB filters are interference filters that also block IR/UV. The L band in their LRGB set is actualy the same as the UV/IR cut filter. I use a similar set with an additional IR pass filter for planetary (I have a 5 position wheel). No need for an extra filter in front of the lens.

It depends on the type of filters you use. If you get the superior colour filters, they have built in IR cut so an additional filter isn't needed. Using these filters has the added advantage that you can use IR pass or UV pass filters without having to take off a IR/UV cut filter
