Thanks for the comments all.

Gordon, in reality its quite badly light polluted where I live. Towards the east is the glow of gloucester and all the houses in my row have fitted security lights and are forever leaving there curtains open with lights on.. This picture was taken towards the west which is reasonably clear and it was taken in the early hours of the morning when everyones lights were out.
