Seafury
Hi a friend told me had an old scope , when I saw it looked old and was inscribed J Ramsden and Broadhurst Clarkson London , I then did some research and turned up thishttp://www.onlinegalleries.com/art-and-antiques/detail/ramsden-telescope/91535and it is identical to this even down to the box and its catches and eyepieces, just not quite as shiney, and the one in the photos only seems to have the name Ramsden on it, I think that would make my friends maybe a little later than 1790 ? any ideas anyoneGordon

Peter Drew
Your friend's telescope might be a combination of Jessie Ramsden, a famous instrument of that period (inventor of the Ramsden eyepiece) and Broadhusrt-Clarkson who were much later. Seafury
Hi it seems that Broadhurst Clarkson were around in the mid 1700's and I wonder if the scope was made by J Ramsden and sold via BCGordon
