I've just been reminded that another way to help with focusing on the Mak is to fit something to the focuser knob to make it larger. The lid from a peanut butter jar is apparently a favoured mod, but I just used a standard springy wooden clothes peg before I motorised mine.

Looks like I'll be getting a 127 Mak if you're getting results like that! Well done mate!

Thank you. I'm sure more aperture helps a lot, but the 127 Mak is a really good scope to start planetary imaging with.
