The big glowing thing in the sky popped out for a little while yesterday morning, so I had a go with the Sunderland Astro Society Coronado Helios 1 solar scope and my Trust 380 Spacecam. Here's the first result, made from two layers, one for the surface and one for the flares. Both the surface image and flare image were made from two AVI's each, joined to cover the complete solar disc. Sunspots 1656, 1654 and 1658 ( lower left ) are most prominent. Stacked in Autostakkert, wavelets in Registax 5.

I'm not entirely happy, as I ended up with several concentric rings around the edge of the solar disc from the first stack and wavelets. I've managed to reduce the effect by hopping from Photoshop to Registax and back several times.
