skywatcher pier ?

As I am now fed up of using the tripod... , I am looking towards a pier.

I unfortunately cannot have a permanent one as I do not own the property I live in (small block of flat, communal gardens, you get the picture...)

A "portable" pier is all I can have, I'm thinking of the Skywatcher pier (due to price and size).

A question about this pier.

On Flo's website http://www.firstligh...ies-mounts.html

it says it's for HEQ5 or EQ6

On the Teleskope Express website http://www.teleskop-...lar-mounts.html

it says that you can mount an EQ3 (which is the mount I have)

Would someone know for sure if you can fit an EQ3-2 without having to resort to adapter plates etc... ?

not sure, i seem to think you can but please dont quote me on it, just an idea, but you could get a pier made up at a local fabricators shop for half the price, and to the ideal height for your use

I'm been also thinking of buying some mild steel pipe (6" OD), square tubing for the legs and give the all lot to my friend for some welding....

I have a SW Pier that I bought for my HEQ5 - haven't got the mount anymore so I don't need the pier. It's got a few extra 'DIY' holes in it, and needs a lick of paint in places. PM me if you're interested Gonzo!
