Stargazer 150P (EQ 3-2 Mount) Newtonian - Advice

Hi,

I have the opportunity to buy a Stargazer 150P (EQ 3-2 Mount) Newtonian at what I think is a reasonable price.

Would this be a good scope for an enthusiastic beginner?

Is it a reasonable scope and how portable is it?

The last bit is important as I don't get a clear view of the sky from my house so I would have to chuck it in the car and drive somewhere it use it.

Hi there. It's a decent piece of equipment for visual use. And it's somewhat portable also. You could do far worse than that.

As you can see from my sig that's the set-up I have and I love it. Although I do all my observing from home going to another site wouldn't be an issue.

For purely visual use this is a fine introduction to our hobby and you won't be disappointed.

I have the longer focal length 150PL and have transported that a few times with no issues. I'd imagine the smaller version would be even easier.
