A couple of simple widefields

Recommended Posts

It's been a while since I have had an opportunity to use my DSLR for astrophotography - I was really hoping I'd get some more use out of it, but you can't change the weather. It's a Canon 1100D. Anyway, on the night of the 25th I got a chance to go out with it. I took a few simple pictures - nothing special at all. One of the bright Moon in the Hyades, one of Orion rising in the east and one of Ursa Major over the house. They are all 30 sec f/3.5 ISO100 shots apart from the one with the Moon, which is a 15 second shot. I think it would be a good idea to use a higher ISO for capturing stars, but the moonlight made it hard to use higher sensitivities.

These shots are completely unedited, and I didn't take any dark frames or anything. The camera automatically subtracted a dark frame for all the images.

Hoping I can get out again soon, ideally without the Moon up there!
