Problem with powertank

Good evening folks,

I have a problem with my Celestron 7ah powertank. I put it on charge yesterday and the red light came on so everything was ok. I checked it a few hours later and the light had gone out. So I'm unsure whether or not it's actually charging or there's a faulty wire. I've tried it in different sockets around the house but no luck.

I opened up the tank up to check the wires and everything looks ok.

When I switch the tank on the green light appears also.

Has anyone encountered this problem before?

Mine did it for a while when it was brand new - seems to have stopped doing it now though!

Measure the voltage on the two 4mm terminal posts. If it's fully charged, you should get about 12.6V or slightly higher if just off charge.

Hi,does the fully charged light come on.

I just leave mine on, untill this comes up .

The red light should stay on.

It sounds like your charger is faulty.

You can use the terminals at the back,

to connect it up to a battery charger.

Just make sure it is set on low charge.

This might be your problem.There is

a little black button marked 10 amp on

the top. Make sure this is push in.

Good point Grotemobile! What charger are you using spacebloke? You should use a charger designed for gel batteries, eg. http://www.tantronics.co.uk/acatalog/BCA_120-350_Lead_Acid_Battery_Charger.html

No you can't. There is 3 position switch: charge, off, on.

I have similar problem with my 7Ah powertank. It can stay on charger for several days and the red light is still on. When I turn it off and back on, the 'fully charged' light flashes. No idea why. I'm using the charger that came in the box.
