Binoculars for £50 budget, any recommendations?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Been thinking about getting some binoculars for wide field star gazing but don't really want to spend more than £50 as would prefer to save money for spending on eyepieces etc for my scope.

Anyone have any recommendations? I nearly bought these Olympus when they were £44 but they've crept up to nearly £60 in just the last couple of weeks.

I hear Helios are ok, anyone have any experience of these that scopesnskies are selling?

Primarily want to use these bins for viewing constellations. Pleiades in particular.

Thanks in advance

Al

I own the Revelation 15x70 and a pair of Meade 10x50 priced at £55.00 and £40.00 respectively. I think both are excellent, but I am no expert on bino's so maybe others can advise better. Both my bins far out perform their modest budget and I would not hesitate in recommending them both to others seeking a set of budget bins.

Just adding my newbies opinion to the topic - my first astronomical instrument was a pair of the very same Olympus 10x50 bins you linked in your first post, and they've treated me brilliantly! I would highly recommend a tripod, however, as even though they aren't exactly the heaviest of binocs, it's always lovely to have a nice steady view!

The Pleiades are a wonder viewed through them, and Jupiter's 4 Gallilean moons are easily visible on a clear night :)

I imagine I'll get plenty of use out of these for years to come!

I have celestron "up close 10x50s cost about £30 very good for the money and also the Visionary 15x70s which you will really need a tripod (or lean against something) they where around £80 but i think are excellent value the advantage is you will see more with the 15x70s. But again... I'm no expert hope this helps
